I've just did a huge, unexpected friends cut. I hate doing these. It's just that I didn't feel that connected/close to a lot of my f-list. And I've been getting busier and busier as the school year progresses, I just needed to minimize things for now. If you'd like to be re-added, comment on my FO post and I might readd you. I'm terribly, terribly sorry. D:

I wish you all the best of luck, and happy holidays. ♥

I've just done an unannounced friend's cut. There were a few people that either didn't comment that much or I didn't really feel like we clicked. I feel terrible about this, but I really need to minimize my f-list: I'm getting busier and busier with school and things now that the school year is getting back into swing.
I just completed my friends cut. If you're no longer listed as my friend, please unadd me as soon as possible. I really, really hate doing these, but you were cut either because:

+ I feel like we never really connected.
+ You rarely updated.
+ You hardly ever commented on my entries.

It was a fairly small cut -- I did keep people who didn't comment on my previous post, only because I know they've been busy and/or are currently on haitus. However, if I kept you and you would like me to unadd you, feel free to comment here. You can also comment if you'd like to know why you were cut, if you were -- all comments are screened.

    <lj:music>Let Me Fall: Idina Menzel</lj:music>

So, it's done. Alex labellefolie recently created a Bet-a-bet, so I've decided to make one for Idina. Because a) you can never have too much Idina in your life, b) I have nothing better to do until tryouts begin, and c) anything I can do to spread the Idina!love is really awesome. So sit back and enjoy the amazing, unique, adorable-ness that is Idina Menzel. Thanks to all of my friends at IMMB that helped me come up with a subject for all of the letters!
This is being kept public so my friends at idinamenzel and IMMB can read and comment as well. :)

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you:

An alphabet describing the lovely Idina Menzel, from her Broadway roles to her funniest little quirks to her unforgettable quotes.

A is for abs.
I want her abs. that's all (haha, this is sort of an awkward way to start this off... and lulz at her faces in the Rent pictures.)

B is for bumpada-bumpada traffic. (2:25 - 2:57)
This whole interview makes me laugh SO FREAKIN' HARD. But the "bumpada-bumpada" traffic part just... gahlsjdflkd. Every time my dad says bumper to bumper traffic or something like that, I allllllllways think of this. Oh, Idina. Look at what you're doing to my life. But it's not a bad thing.
<lj-embed id="43" />

C is for her chocolately husband.
Taye Diggs and Idina are a match made in heaven. Really? Just the fact that they met while working on RENT makes me flail inside. Anything, any video, story, picture, whatever, that involves both of them just makes me squee with hapiness. AND GUYS, THEY'RE SO FREAKIN' GORGEOUS. THEY NEED TO REPRODUCE LIKE NOW, THEIR KIDS ARE GOING TO BE SO ATTRACTIVE AND ARE GOING TO SING SOOOOO WELL (hopefully).

D is for Defying Gravity
This was the first Wicked song I fell in love with, and today it still remains my favorite on the soundtrack and probably one of my favorite songs ever. Just the whole point of the song -- Elphaba and Glinda going their own separate ways, deciding what path they're going to take and what face they're going to show all of Oz -- is really compelling for me. And the lyrics, the set, the music, everything is just so magical. I've probably watched this YouTube video fifty times in a row when I first found it.
<lj-embed id="44" />

E is for Enchanted
Honestly, the first time I saw Enchanted, I had no idea who Idina Menzel was. *hangs head in shame* But not long after that I discovered her and all of her wonderful-ness through Alex labellefolie , and now, I love this movie even more. Yes, I'll admit that she didn't impress me that much with her acting in this movie, but I still love it. Usually when I feel like watching Enchanted, it's only because of Idina. And the fact that they cut out her duet with James makes me very, very, EXTREMELY pissed off.

F is for "fell through a hole" story
THE. BEST. EVER. Only Idina could tell a story this serious and make it funny and entertaining. I looove how much she like, stutters at the beginning ("umumumum okay, what happened... so so so"). Just... lololol. "RIP THIS FUCKER OFF! IT'S MY LAST SHOW, I FELL THROUGH A GODDAMN HOLE, I COULD GIVE A SHIT" "Well how much is it?" "Its $20,000, WHO FUCKING CARES THOSE GUYS ARE MAKING A SHITLOAD OF MONEY!" HAHAH I FUCKING LOVE HER (oh, and two videos because she says some different things in the second one).
<lj-embed id="45" />
<lj-embed id="46" />

G is for galindafied
Galindafied!Elphie is my favorite. Especially her Act II dress -- GORGEOUS. IT ALSO OCCURS DURING POPULAR, ONE OF MAH FAVE SONGS. And Popular = Elphie and Glinda becoming bffs.

H is for "hi, I'm Idina, I'm Taye Diggs' wife, and I am my own self." (1:40 - 2:05)
So this quote basically owns my soul. Not really, but. The first time I watched this interview, I laughed SO. FREAKIN'. HARD. at it. Really? Again, only something Idina would do. And then later on, "I didn't mean to give you Jewish guilt!" LOLOLOLOL.
<lj-embed id="47" />

I is for her improv songs
Idina's improv songs get me every single time. I really wish she had done a full-length one at the concert I went to- she did a small one for Millie, but it was just, "Millie Millie Millie is so beautiful... and she has the coolest mom". BUT LMAO AT ALL OF THESE.
<lj-embed id="48" />
<lj-embed id="49" />
<lj-embed id="50" />

J is for Jewish
I'll let Idina tell you guys herself about how she quit Hebrew school and all that jazz.
<lj-embed id="51" />

K is for kielbasa
I'm not going to go that far into detail on this, because it's in her wedding singer bit (letter W), but. "Every good wedding singer is equipped with their own percussion instrument, so even if you're not singing, you always look like you're doing something. This is a cabasa. Until recently I called it a kielbasa. A kielbasa's a sausage. hey, I can play that too. HULLO *drum roll*"

L is for lefties
I wish I was left-handed (this picture is going to be so exciting, right? Eight pictures of Idina signing stuff COMBINED TOGETHER. oooooh).

M is for Maureen Johnson
Most definitely my favorite character in RENT- and not just because she was originated by/played by in the movie by Idina. Maureen is such an independent character, so stubborn, self-driving, and doesn't take any crap from anybody. She speaks her mind, is unique and different, and doesn't care what anyone else thinks of her.

N is for "no fucking green M&Ms!"
HAHAHA, LOL. Idina talking about her fantasies of stardom when her single Minuet came out.
"I'll be on VH1 behind the scenes, talking about my drug-rehab days, which I haven't even had yet..."
"I'll walk into the dressing room and I'll be like, 'NO FUCKING GREEN M&MS, I SAID NO FUCKING GREEN M&MS, GET IT?!', because that's what you're supposed to do!"
LMAO. ANOTHER ONE OF THE MANY REASONS WHY I LOVE IDINA MENZEL.
<lj-embed id="52" />

O is for Over The Moon
This song used to be one that I didn't like that much on RENT, but now I love it. It's just so... random and funny and awesome. I've posted a video from the movie, only because I haven't seen the stage production, sadly. D:
<lj-embed id="53" />

P is for her perfectly-placed-LOL laugh (0:48 - 0:59)
During the trailer for "The Tollbooth". I've never seen this movie, and probably never will, but her laugh in the trailer for this movie cracks me up soooo much. Idina's laugh is theeee best. It can always make me happy.
<lj-embed id="54" />

Q is for queen of Broadway
Idina is versatile as hell. She's originated two major roles on Broadway, and has been in so many other stage productions. She's been talking about wanting to originate another role, hopefully it will be something really awesome and something sooooon! :)

R is for Rise Up/sister story
The first time I heard it, Rise Up immediately became not only my favorite Idina song, but favorite song EVER when I heard it. Idina really should record this track on her next album, because it's so beautiful and has a wonderful backstory. Every single time I listen to the story, I tear up and start to cry. Because I'm that lame.
<lj-embed id="55" />

S is for Sammy Davis Jr., Jr.
SO. MUCH. CUTE.
<lj-embed id="56" />

T is for her Tony Award!
<strike>I almost cried when I first watched this.</strike> I mean. I'm soooo glad that Idina won this Tony, she deserved it 110%. I really wish that I had been such a hardcore-Idina fan back then, because I would have loved to watch this unfold on television. If that makes any sense at all.
EMBEDDING WAS DISABLED ON THIS VIDEO, SO I GUESS I'LL HAVE TO LINK YOU GUYS.

U is for unbelievably gorgeous<unbelievably gorgeous="">
Really. Do I have to even explain this (butumhaicheeeekbones)? She's even gorgeous GREEN.

V is for Vera Rivkin
I only watched Ask The Dust for Idina, and trust me, it's worth waiting through the 40 minutes until she makes her appearance. Her whole performance was stellar, and to be honest, all bias aside, she was the only person who really impressed me in this film. She captured Vera perfectly.
</unbelievably><lj-embed id="57" />

W is for wedding singer
Idina's wedding singer skit was one of the things I was looking forward to at her concert. Again, this shows what a great entertainer she is -- she can make her horrible wedding singer job seem so much fun and make so many people laugh with her crazy stories.
<lj-embed id="58" />
<lj-embed id="59" />

X is for x-rated when nervous
I've already posted this video, but it describes this.. 'condition' perfectly.
"Make love to the chair, always rule number one. It's a nervous habit."
<lj-embed id="60" />

Y is for "yes, I've always been green!"
Ah, Wicked. I'm so incredibly happy that I discovered Wicked, or else, some things would have been so much different in my life. I probably wouldn't have discovered Idina. *GASP* But really, this show is so, so wonderful. I'm overjoyed that I got to see it this past July with Kerry Ellis and Kendra Kassebaum, but naturally, it left me wanting more. Wanting to see the show over and over again, because for those two hours and forty-five minutes, I was in a completely different world. A world that I love, that I wish I could revisit every night. I wish I could walk down Broadway every single night, and go into the Gershwin and watch Wicked whenever I wish. *big sigh* That will never happen, though. :/ And really? If they make it into a movie, they better not screw it up.

Z is for Z, Planet
So I cheated a bit on this one. Buuut, Z = Planet Z slash her whole "Still I Can't Be Still" album. This album is pure Idina -- the lyrics are so crazy and it reflects her personality so well.

<unbelievably gorgeous="">DONE. That took me... four or five hours.</unbelievably>
<unbelievably gorgeous="">Leave epic comments, they're the best. If you read all of that... you have a special place in my heart.</unbelievably>
<unbelievably gorgeous="">Pass the Idina!love on, link your friends to this page. :)</unbelievably>
<unbelievably gorgeous=""></unbelievably>
<unbelievably gorgeous=""></unbelievably>
<unbelievably gorgeous="">(OKAY I JUST SET MY MOODTHEME, AND LMAO AT MIMI'S FACIAL EXPRESSION)</unbelievably>

    <lj:music>My Own Worst Enemy: Idina Menzel</lj:music>

Best fucking night of my entire life. Really. This is going to be in sections and probably less sentences and more of chunks of quotes.
I'm leaving this public so my fellow Idina fans at idinamenzel can enjoy it as well. :) And a sticky on top, so... it's always there.

section one

pre-concert

My mom and I left around two and got to Richmond around four? We ate dinner (haha, from 4 until 5:30) at Penny Lane Pub + Restaurant- it was actually preeeetty good.
mom: i wonder who the special guest is going to be!
me: probably someone lame.
mom: maybe it'll be glinda!
HAHAHAH. Although that would've made things SO much more awesome if it was Kristin Chenoweth. After we finished eating, we went back to the car and just sat around until six thirty, then we headed over to The National. People were already lined up, and we waited until 7:15ish until they let us in. I bought a concert t-shirt, the same one I showed you guys in a previous post, and one for Emily, too. :D Theeeeen we went to our seats, which were like TEN FEET AWAY FROM THE STAGE, GAH. The opener came on at eight- it was some random guy named Kyle Davis- he was good, but I thought he lacked in stage presence... he just sort of stood there and sang. eh. He was on until 8:30. Then we had to wait ANOTHER half-hour until nine, and. IDINA CAME ON.

section two
concert!

Okay, so here we go. Some of this is probably out of order, and some of the quotes aren't quite right, but oh well.

The drum set they had was really intense- gold sparkly, and the big main drum had her "I" emblem and said IDINA on it. There was a carpet with set lists taped to it, because Idina likes to sit/kneel a lot. Two seats for her backup singers, and two stools for her to sit on.
They made an announcement that all cameras should not be used unless you have written consent of the artist's management, blah blah. The opening chords of "I Stand" began, and the crowd lost it. Idina walked out, and oh my freakin' god, she is so much more gorgeous in person than she is in pictures or on film. She was wearing these really super-tall-thick black platform heels, her signature black skinny jeans, and a dress that was hard to describe- it was silky and flowy, all different colors, but really pretty, and cinched up with a thin black belt around her waist. She wore her ginormous wedding ring and another big black ring, simple diamond studs, and her hair was down and gorgeous (I think she was wearing extensions, though).
She sang "I Stand"- near the end she noticed a whole row of empty seats: "We have one, two, three, four, five, six, seven open seats here... I want seven people from the balcony to come down here and fill them in!" So of course, people came running down immediately, and I think she regretted saying that (you'll see why later). There was an absolutely ADORABLE little girl front row center, nine or ten years old?, and at the end of "I Stand" Idina sang right to her and was waving and AWWWW. She went straight into "Don't Let Me Down" after that.
Then she noticed the two empty seats next to me. "Where did these guys go?"
Me! + other people: "They left."
Idina: "Aw, well, I want two people that are farthest up in the balcony to come down here." But no one caaaame.
Then she went to get a stool, pulled it to the center of the stage, and sat on it. *wiggling around* "This stool is a little bit wobbly... I don't think it's very sturdy. Something embarrassing could happen, but let's see what happens." She switched stools with her guitarist Emerson, though. Then she noticed the little girl again-
"I'm here in Richmond, and I have this beautiful little girl sitting here.. sweetie, what's your name?" (mom + little girl) "Millie!"
Then AWWWW, Idina sings, "Millie millie millie is so beautiful... and she has the coolest mom".
She was sitting there, and about to start "Where Do I Begin?".
She talked about Taye and how they were once in a fight and went to someone's wedding, and danced together and then made up, and now they always dance once a week, no matter how mad they are at each other. "This is a song I wrote for my husband, Taye..." Then OF COURSE, the audience started shouting things like, "YOUR HUSBANDS HOT!". Idina said something along these lines, "Well, this song isn't just for Taye. It can be for your husbands, too. Although they might not be as good-looking as mine. ...and he can sing well. His skin is softer than mine... no wrinkles, great ass..." Then she started to play with her HUGE wedding ring, and someone shouted out, "SHOW OFF".
Idina: "I'm the one up on stage, I can do whatever the hell I want!" and then sang "I'm a showoooooooooooff" really amazingly and dramatic. She sang "Where Do I Begin?", then "Brave", I think.
Then was a little break from singing, I believe? Well, not really, the audience just shouted a million things at her about now. People were giving her lots of compliments on her outfit.
Idina: "Do you like my shoes? They look really high, but they're platforms, so they're really sturdy and I really feel like I can walk in them."
Audence: "How tall are you?"
Idina: "In these shoes? I am SIX FEET in these shoes... no, I'm actually *in a really proud voice* five five and three-quarters."
Audience: "How tall is Taye?"
Idina: "Taye would want me to say he's six-five... but no, he would get mad if I said..."
Audience: "I like your top!"
Idina: "What?"
Audience: "Your shirt!"
Idina: "oh, so you're diggin' my outfit tonight? What else do you like about me?" *laughs her priceless laugh*
Audience: "everything!" "your hair" ...
Then people started shouting out random questions.
Audience: "How's Sammy Davis Jr.?"
Idina: "They mean my dog... and it's *JR. JR.*"
Audience: "How's Patrick Dempsey?"
Idina: "Patrick's a dick, you know. OH NO, Millie, dick is a nickname for Richard.. you see, we call Patrick Richard sometimes *laughs* ... But no, he was a really nice dancer... and he... kisses softly...."
Then one lady asked her, "Can you moo for us?"
Idina: "I don't think I can moo on command..." Then she sang a bit of "Over The Moon", including "a leeeeeaaaap of faiiiiith" really gorgeously. Hah, she said she couldn't remember most of the words, but I think she was really annoyed with that lady, though. Then someone requested "Defying Gravity", and Idina said something like, "hey hey hey. Shut up. Do I need to send you all to your bedrooms? Do you need a spanking? I think this man over here needs one, from my drummer. This is Jimmy, everyone!." Then Jimmy didn't say anything, just sort of twitched nervously, and Idina says, "aw, Jimmy's a little bit shy... look, he's turning red! Although I can't imagine anyone being shy wearing THAT hair all the time." (his hair was like... super afro-y and tall).
I really don't think there was that much talking all at once, but. She sang "Devorah" and "Rise Up", which was so, so beautiful. Also, YAY, she did her wedding days skit (part one, part two- from NYC Town Hall), which my mom laughed extremely hard at (:D). When she started to talk about the cabasa and how she used to think it was a kielbasa, she says, "Now, every good wedding singer needs to be equipped with their own percussion instrument, so if they're not singing it always looks like they're doing something. This is a cabasa. For the longest time I used to call it a kielbasa. Millie, a kielbasa's a sausage. Just so you know. But hey, I can play that too. HULLO *cheap drum roll*" I WISH I WAS THAT LITTLE GIRL, GUYS.
I do remember right after her wedding days, she said that she quit because her boss threw a microphone at her, and then she finally got a professional job in the theater with RENT. So she got the stools for her and Emerson, her guitarist, and she sang her medley of "No Day But Today", which was so pretty, and we sang along at parts. She covered "Roxanne" at some point, which was the only song my mom didn't like just because she hates that song. Overall, it was all of her songs from "I Stand" except for "I Feel Everything".
Then she started saying her thank-yous and sang us "For Good". Someone shouts, "You're awesome!" and Idina replies, "aw, thank you, I think you're awesome, too... even though I don't know who you are."
One guy, Corey, who moved up to the seats in the front from the balcony, kept shouting things at her all night. Really obnoxiously. After or before she sang "For Good", I can't remember, he says, "What, it's over?"
Idina: "Who is that, who keeps shouting at me?" (looks to the right of the room)
Corey: "OVER HERE"
Idina: "Oh, sorry, my mic makes it seem like you're over there. What's your name?"
Corey: "COREEEEY!"
Idina: "Corey, you know I love ya, but you need to shut the fuck up." HAHAH. BEST. EVER.
"Gorgeous" was before her encore, I think? We were clapping and cheering for like two minutes after she left, but then she came back and sang "No Trace of Us" from Nero, and this was the first time she sung it at her concert- it was really pretty. Then, I took out my camera and took a few really horrible pictures without the flash, because I didn't want to annoy her. And she sang Defying Gravity- SO AMAZING. I videotaped that, even though I missed the first two or three lines, but it's a pretty good video.

<lj-embed id="24" />

No zoom? We got out around 11:15, and at like 11:30 my mom went to get the car and pull up and wait for me in there. We waited until midnight, and Idina finally came out! I was sort of near the back, so she didn't get to me by the time she was at my section of the fence, but she was over on the other side- Millie was over there, the adorable little girl, and she took some pictures with her. Then she started working over to my section again, and by this time I was right up at the fence. I was literally the last autograph she signed, she was getting on the bus because people were starting to ask her for pictures with her. She only signed one of my pictures, and it wasn't even the pretty one of her singing I had originally planned, but I honestly don't care. She was so sweet, stayed out for about fifteen minutes, and signed almost everything. I took a few pictures at stagedoor.

I WAS THIS CLOSE TO HER

You can't really see because of the flash. BUT, this may be my new favorite thing in my room like... ever.

I didn't get a picture with her, but it was still a night I'll never forget. The whole thing was so surreal. I typed most of this up last night, I could not sleep at all, and was up until four-ish in the morning. Thankfully I wrote all of this down, so I'll never forget it.

Idina said she plans on coming back to Virginia, and I'M SO THERE AT HER NEXT CONCERT HERE. LIKE, NO JOKE. It was one of the best nights in my entire life, and I need to bring Emily next time.
So that was hugely epic, and I hope you guys enjoyed it, and if you read all of that, you're the best.
